Differences Between Fioricet And Celebrex

Other than the fact both medications are used for pain, they are not the same. They each have situations when they should and should not be used. It’s like the difference between Tylenol and aspirin. Consult your doctor to find out the differences and advise you in your decision as to which pain medication would be right for you.

Celebrex is classified as a non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug, (NSAID) prescriped for pain relief from arthritis and menstrual cramps. A combination of caffeine, butalbital and acetaminophen, Fioricte is used for pain relief from tension headaches. These two drugs should not interchange, as people tend to believe, as it can cause serious internal damage. Tension headaches are not the same as menstrual cramps or arthritis, and should be treated differently.

Quite often, people that are suffering from any type of pain will take whatever they can find available. If it ends up not working for them, they tend to take even more pain medication. When taking Fioricet, it has side effects such as dizziness and feeling drowsy, therefore it should be taken with food. Taking too much, or taken improperly, Celebrex can cause discomfort to the stomach, liver, and kidneys.

Take Tylenol for a headache. Take aspirin for inflammation. That’s a good general rule of thumb unless your doctor tells you to avoid one or the other. Fioricet has acetaminophen in it, so it classifies as Tylenol. Celebrex is an NSAID, similar to Ibuprofen, so it can be classed as an aspirin. Both are respectively more more powerful than their counterparts and both should not be substituted for the other or taken in excessive amounts.

Seeking the advice of your doctor when suffering from pain is a good ides, he’/she may think you require something else. The advice given here is based on general, well known information from the medical community, but should not be regarded as the only authority you seek out. There are other factors that you may need to take into consideration when taking any type of pain medication.
